Steamboat Minnehaha Volunteer Positions available:

Purser

A Purser on the Minnehaha handles mooring lines, greets passengers, manages tickets at boarding, addresses safety issues, assists with public education pertaining to the history of the steamboat and the Lake Minnetonka area, boat preparation prior to sailing, and general boat operation.   Skill Requirements.

Engineer

The Engineer is responsible for operating the steam engine and boiler. The Engineer responds to the Pilot/Captain’s orders for change of direction and engine speed, and monitors the boiler for safe operation. Skill Requirements.

Pilot/Captain

The Pilot/Captain is responsible for overall boat operation, and passenger and vessel safety.  Skill Requirements.

Ticket and Merchandise Sales

In Ticket and Merchandise Sales workers sell Minnehaha tickets and Minnehaha merchandise, and answer questions about Museum of Lake Minnetonka operations.  Skill Requirements.

Maintenance Positions

Throughout the year, the Minnehaha requires maintenance and up-keep. If you are not interested in a visible role on the steamboat, consider working with the museum to keep the boat in working order during the winter and while the boat is on the water.

Requirements for All Positions

Every volunteer is a member of the Museum of Lake Minnetonka. Please fill out an application form and send it with your dues to the address on the form.
